ipl-pic-for-blogWoke up this morning at 6:30 AM (about 5 hours before my Saturday regular wake-up time) to watch the Mumbai Indians go up against the Chennai Super Kings. My favorite player Sanath Jayasuirya has been dismissed already and we’ve also had an extended delay because of a dog who walked on to the field! It was great to watch a team of like 20 people chasing the dog around without a clue of how to get him out.

As I watch, I can’t help feeling that we’ve lost a lot from the IPL this year. South Africa is great but the crowds don’t seem to be as big or to have as much energy as the crowds we’ve gotten used to from the IPL last year in India: unfortunate. It’s actually pretty quiet. And they are cheering for Flintoff and ignoring Sachin, how messed up is that!

Well, hopefully things will get better as the tournament progresses.

As I write this there are back to back boundaries: the crowd is still silent. hmm.

wii-sports-resortWii MotionPlus the new accessory for the wiimote controller that increases controller sensitivity is now available for pre-order in the US. I’m debating splurging on Wii Sports Resort which is basically a new version of Wii Sports with games focused on the new accessory (comes with Wii MotionPlus). As soon as these were available, both were on the top seller list at Amazon. I’m not sure if this is a result of scalpers picking them up (there will obviously be a huge market for these things once Nintendo releases these on June 8th and July 26th).

The MotionPlus promises to be everything that the original Wii controller wasn’t. We could have games like cricket that require deft hand movements showing up quickly to take advantage of the newly upgraded controllers.

Yes, Cricket!  Nothing’s really been announced on the Cricket front, I’m just getting excited thinking about it.

I wish the Wii mote was a Sony invention and had the ability to use the amazing graphics that the PS3 is capable of while also using the Wii MotionPlus for control. Wishful thinking.

Talking about Cricket, the Indian Premier League kicks off in South Africa on Saturday. Sanath Jayasuriya and the Mumbai Indians will be playing the first game!

I will be up at 6AM EST to watch!
